Dreamfinder and Figment WDW Christmas Parade 1984

Featuring Ron Schneider as Dreamfinder.

Dreamfinder was a character from the first incarnation of Journey Into Imagination and most of its related media. He is voiced by Chuck McCann, though in some scenes he was voiced by his original walkaround actor Ron Schneider.

The Dreamfinder created Figment, a tiny royal purple dragon made of two tiny wings, big yellow eyes, horns of a steer and (as Birmbaums calls it) the body of a lizard and a nose of a crocodile, plus a dash of childish delight. He teaches Figment about the wonders of imagination and takes riders along through all of Figment's overdone splendors in his machine's Idea Bag.

Haunted Gingerbread House

From Halloween through the holiday season the Haunted Mansion is decked out in a "The Nightmare Before Christmas" motif for Haunted Mansion Holiday. One of the coolest highlights has got to be the haunted gingerbread house in the mansion's ballroom.

It's been a fixture since 2001. This year's design, "Haunted Mansion Tombstone Cake," is six feet high and four feet wide.

And for the first time ever the "house" will have animated projections. The projectors are such a new technology that there are only a few in the United States, and some are here at our very own Haunted Mansion!

It took three chefs, a team of electricians, engineers and designers to create the tasty (and creepy) "tombstone cake." And although the house looks decorated with candy, it's not. All the decorations are actually created from fondant and royal icing.

One of the Last Times Walt E. Disney was on Film

The footage you are about to see is bittersweet. It shows one of the last times Walt was on film enjoying his park. The day was July 24, 1966 (Walt died later that year).

Walt and New Orleans Mayor Victor Schiro officially opened New Orleans Square. It was the first time since opening day in 1955 that a new land had opened. It was also the only area at the park named after a real city. Guests enjoyed shopping, dining and music, and Pirates of the Caribbean opened the following year.

The Osborne Family - Spectacle of Dancing Lights

Jennings Osborne, the creator of the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, passed away 1 year ago. His creativity has influenced many guests, cast members and fans of Walt Disney World, and that includes me.
- John Phelan, Show Director, Disney Creative Entertainment

"I had the opportunity to work at the Spectacle of Dancing Lights (Dec. 2008 – Crowd Control) in the night that the Osborne family was there to see the display. It’s was an amazing night and I was shocked with the news, last year.! :( Now, the lights have one more special meaning to all of us!"
- Marcio Disney
